Hey Han! First glimpse as Han goes Solo in latest Star Wars spin-off

It's here. Are you as excited as I am!?

It kinda looks like a family photo from the 90s but a younger Han Solo is back in the Millennium Falcon and we'll forget all about those events in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. As the cash cow keeps churning, we actually keep getting decent films so I've got my eye on this one.

Alden Ehrenreich won the coveted role ahead of the likes of Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and Dave Franco, and he'll be joined by Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. I've just been binge-watching Community on repeat (belatedly, I'll admit) so I'm possibly more excited to see Glover on screen as this casting is perfect! Elsewhere, you'll recognise Emilia Clarke as the female lead, jumping from one cult sci-fi franchise (The Terminator, where she played a young Sarah Conner) to another. Woody Harrelson is also keeping his mentor boots on from The Hunger Games as he prepares to take Solo under his wing.

What do we know about the untitled Han Solo spin-off so far? Well, as of yesterday, principal photography has begun and it looks like it's going to be a fun ride. It will be released in the summer of 2018, and it's directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who have made big names of themselves through 21 and 22 Jump Street and The Lego Movie. Which means it's likely this film will be awesome.

It's an origins story too, and as the recent Rogue One: A Star Wars Story managed to tie in quite nicely with A New Hope, we can expect it to be separate but link suitably to the Star Wars saga as we know it. Expect the makings of sarcastic space pirate Han Solo...and the return of his beloved sidekick Chewbacca! Watch this space for more details.

Fun Fact: We all know and love Harrison Ford as Han Solo The Original, but did you know Al Pacino, Sylvester Stallone, Jack Nicholson and Steve Martin were all considered?!
