Don't Panic! Get the Dad's Army World Premiere recap here.

It's a miserable, wet and windy Tuesday night in Leicester Square. As you approach the Square, there's a boarded up area and the vague sound of music through the rain. On the other side, the red carpet of the Dad's Army World Premiere lights up the otherwise gloomy evening. The one-and-only-it's-Suchet John Suchet is interviewing the all-star cast, which includes Sir Michael Gambon, Toby Jones, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Everyone - including original Dad's Army stars Ian Lavender and Frank Williams - is here to celebrate one of Britain's best-loved and most iconic sitcoms. What a night.

My friend and I were super excited to be walking the red carpet alongside some of Britain's absolute great greats. We even glimpsed legendary sportswoman Dame Kelly Holmes.

The carpet is a catwalk, and several guests turned up in Home Guard military attire. Breaking away from the theme, however, was Zeta-Jones, sporting a stunning but risky teal dress for the weather. She was also joined by the Chelsea Pensioners, veterans who were brightly uniform for the occasion.

Vaguely trying to dress to recreate the Dad's Army spirit, I wore some of my own old classics ('borrowed' from my mum's wardrobe!), bringing my own vintage into the now. This purple leather coat would be so difficult to find these days - plus it's utterly weatherproof!

Inside the cinema, the director Oliver Parker was joined by screenwriter Hamish McColl and producer Damian Jones who told us how wonderful the cast were to work with. One crucial point they highlighted was the fact that this film isn't an exact remake or continuation, but rather a new re-imagining of the original. We were then joined by the stellar cast (minus Bill Nighy) to introduce the film.

Massive thanks to MCM Comic Con, the film's official sponsor, for the tickets! You can read my full review here.
