Red Carpet Review - Red, White and Yellow.

Thursday, June 25, 2015

Red carpet trend alerts are coming to Beview, and in this week's round-up, it's all about Ladies in Red, Yellow Fever, and All-Whites (fitting, ahead of Wimbledon tennis season!)

Ladies in Red
Sophia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon rocked the classic Red look at the Mexican premiere of their new film Hot Pursuit on Monday. It's a hard colour to pull off, but I reckon they've done a glamorous job of it. For a slight variation on simply colour-blocking in red, choose an extra patterned detail like the piping on Sophia's dress, or an asymetric one like Reese. If you're too scared to go all-bright, choose a darker shade of crimson.

She's making headlines all on her own now...Lottie Moss, the 17 year old model sister of Kate, wore a simple elegant strapless red number at the Ralph Lauren & Vogue Wimbledon Summer Cocktail Party. This would certainly make a pretty prom look.

Yellow Fever
Whereas last summer sported a very yellow-lime chartreuse colour, 2015 is about straight up yellow. This is a much nicer kind of yellow fever. Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt wore the shade perfectly at the Ralph Lauren/Vogue bash which was held at Kensington Palace.

(I like this colour so much I wore it to the Interstellar premiere!)

All-Whites
They key to this summer trend is top to toe white. I am a big fan of Lily James, and not just because she brought my childhood love of Cinderella to life. At the same pre-Wimbledon bash as Lottie, she sported a simply sophisticated white shirt dress. J'adore.

Meanwhile, at a film screening, Mila Kunis paired an all-white combo with white heels, so it's easy to replicate if you have a white top and skirt lying around. (Although you run the risk of looking slightly frumpy so choose wisely.)

I am definitely not a fan of model and Maybelline spokesperson Gigi Hadid's all-white look from the Much Music Video Awards on Sunday, BUT you can practically recreate the look with this elegant white embellished dress from Virgos Lounge (on sale from £240 to £85).

Which is your favourite look of the three? (No points for guessing mine!)
