Mamma Mia! Is there room for a sequel?

Saturday, May 20, 2017

Apparently so. No this is not a belated April Fools. Meryl Streep and co. are returning ten years after Mamma Mia! The Movie graced our screens. (How has it been TEN YEARS?) The musical theatre script may have been exhausted, but in 2018, unused ABBA tracks will undoubtedly make their cinematic appearance. Benny Anderson and Björn Ulvaeus will also serve as executive producers once again.

What can we expect? Nearly a decade ago, the sweet Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) decided she wanted Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgård as her fathers, and embarked on her travels with not-husband Sky (Dominic Cooper). Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again will bring back the old favourites plus some new faces and be released on 28th July 2018. I'm not sure what they'll do - maybe Sophie and Sky are preparing to get married for real, maybe we'll get some mother-daughter drama ("I'm not your mother!"), maybe it'll be set in America and they'll go for a Greek island roadtrip, and maybe we'll just get Pierce Brosnan singing all over the place one more time.

Whether you're excited or not, we can definitely expect some Money, money, money to start rolling in!

One for the throwback...
