Marty McFly is in town today! In the second Back to the Future, Marty and co. took a trip to 2015 - and made a few futuristic predictions along the way. This momentous day has been 30 years in the making and it's here. Some keen beans have even been counting down the days for quite some time. We may not be in flying cars just yet, and we can't peel our skin off without ending up in hospital, but there are some things that may happen on our 21st October 2015 that Marty saw coming.



Hoverboards!

Yup, we got those. Ok, they're not as sophisticated or widely-adopted but they do exist on some very close to the ground level. Actually, you're right. They don't even hover, they are self-balancing handleless scooters but they're the closest thing you and I can get our hands on for now.

Flying cars

If you go to the Harry Potter studios in London, you can pull this one off. I know, I know, I'm just as disappointed as you.


Laces that tie themselves

Nike have let you down with the self-tying motorised laces (they're reportedly releasing a limited-edition this very week) but in the meantime you can learn a trick or two from Dynamo or David Blaine. Or...just stick to the velcro.



The fashion - oh, the fashion

We don't have self-drying coats (we do have Gore-tex, however) and we don't wear colanders on our heads. But if 'Back to the Future' is a legitimate fancy dress theme, I wouldn't count against seeing lots of garish shirts and bodysuits today.



Video/phone glasses

Yessss! Inspiration served fresh for Google Glass. Shame Back to the Future didn't predict the sales success of these... Marty was ready. We weren't.



Hands-free video games

If you can count the Wii or Kinect or Move...then YES!
(PS. Spot a very young Elijah Wood waaay before he was chosen to carry the ring to Mordor.)


Basically, today is going to be awesome.

It's beginning to feel like winter, and this week's Red Carpet Review has definitely brought the seasonal glamour. Pals Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale channelled the vamp-glam look just days away from Halloween at a Guitar Hero Live event. And new star Rose Leslie of The Last Witch Hunter (starring Vin Diesel) impressed with a gorgeous nude-and-sequin panelled gown at the premiere - think fireworks for 5th November's Bonfire Night!

Also in London, the Q Awards this week saw Foxes and Charlie XCX sporting their traditional winter warmers. I absolutely love Foxes' floral dress and she stands out in the crowd thanks to the black gloves. A strange combo, but fairly easy to replicate with long gloves from the fancy dress section! Meanwhile, how warm does Charlie XCX look!? It's so heavy, you risk looking like a frumpy snowman, but Charlie pulls it off for sure.

Meanwhile, at the BFI London Film Festival, the eternally elegant Cate Blanchett shone brighter than the Christmas decorations in a velvet embellished dress by Schiaparelli. Does she ever put a foot wrong? Former model Agyness Deyn was also at the festival to promote her new film Sunset Song. And she wore a coat! (Is it a coat? Is it a dress? Is it a coat over a dress? Who knows.) If Cate is the Christmas tree decoration, then Agyness is most definitely the rockin' Christmas tree.

Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep brought their jumper game to the photocall of Suffragette. Suitably sparkly yet a safe choice for the weather. And not long after at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards...it's Carey Mulligan again! This time bringing an ice blue suit - yes, women can wear suits - that would make Frozen's Elsa proud.

Tom Hardy

He is suave, smooth, and has one of the best track records of full film transformation. He's done action - and fast cars - in this year's Mad Max: Fury Road, as well as Inception and so many others. He looks different every single time I see him and I reckon he would go all out for a Tom Hardy-style Bond transformation.



Kit Harington

Oh, it's Jon Snow. Just imagine him without the long curly hair, can you see it? He's British and recently had a taste of modern-day action with the Spooks film. And he's said in interviews he would very much be down for it.


Damian Lewis

Damian Lewis! Some people are saying he's not 'street' enough to pull it off, and I'm not sure. I like him enough to shortlist, and he's such a talented actor. Yes, let's acknowledge the elephant in the room and say HELZ YEH there can totally be a ginger James.



Tom Hiddleston 

Tom is actually one of my favourites. As is Tom Hardy actually, so Team Tom is looking strong. The epitome of the British gentleman, he's an impeccable actor too. Plus, if he's as good a hero as he is a villain (you have to see the Jaguar ad), we're in for a jolly good show. He can swap the Jaguar for an Aston Martin any day.


Sam Claflin

Here's a name that doesn't get bounced around much for the debate. Ok, he looks like the friendliest guy ever and he's always smiling so he may have to work on his smoulder/glare/intense glare. He's played characters from page to screen like in the Hunger Games series and Love, Rosie, so it could be time to get some inspiration from Ian Fleming.



David Gandy

Can he act? Is he secretly a black belt and trained in parkour? Call it a wildcard. I've heard the name of this former D&G model being thrown around a couple of times, so maybe, just maybe... Plus, we know he can rock a suit.



Jeremy Irvine

At 25 he's too young. But I'm officially putting him on the list because I officially like him a lot. Me calling this can have a 25 year use-by date, so don't rule it out for another quarter of a century.


Speaking of young actors, there's also people like Alex Pettyfer or Sam Taylor-Johnson, if producers wanted a real change. After all, Alex Pettyfer played the kid James Bond as teenage spy Alex Rider in Stormbreaker, and Sam Taylor-Johnson always appears wise beyond his years...

And there's also people like Ewan McGregor or Gerard Butler, or famous non-British actors like Aussies Sam Worthington or Hugh Jackman. OR equally it could be someone completely unknown who's currently an accountant moonlighting at a theatre and one day a talent scout walks into the office... Who knows. And I'll confess, I haven't actually seen Luther or any of his other roles so I can't throw Idris Elba's name into the hat just yet!

Daniel Craig has done a stellar job of bringing a brand new James Bond into the 21st century. Whoever the role goes to, and it could still be in a few more years' time, they know they'll have large boots to fill.

Until then, we have the countdown to Spectre! Who's excited?

The final Hunger Games movie will be out in cinemas, just over a month away! From avidly reading the books as a teenager (with the classic torch under the bedcovers move) and scoring a pass to the first premiere, it's safe to say this franchise has gone as far as to even shaping this blog from the early days. Do you remember one of my first posts back in 2012?! For my next review, I'll try and use fewer exclamation marks, but I can't promise anything. Believe me, the fangirl excitement is still there.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 will see Katniss continue leading the rebellion against the Capitol - but mind games are rife and what is real any more anyway? As the name gives away, they're all players in a very dangerous game (- only, whose?). The Games have been played - twice - and the fire has been catching all over; now it's time for the Mockingjay to take a final stand. Katniss and co. are on their final mission to assassinate President Snow, and the plan is basically to bring freedom and hope to all. This is a revolutionary war. My not so secret I-wish-she-was-my-friend Jennifer Lawrence is back as the Mockingjay herself, joined by pretty much everyone who has previously been in the Hunger Games family. The late legendary Philip Seymour Hoffman has been touted as one of the highlights of the film and I have no doubt over the magic and grace he never ceases to bring to screen.

The trailers have been warning us that nothing can prepare us for this (not even reading the books?). Nope. Here's why: if you put the series into a box, you probably get teenage sci-fi or young adults' adventure. But then you watch/read it and realise there is no such box, and it defies any label you could give it. And you look even further and find the real, raw struggle and reality of war. Even if it is set years ahead into dystopia, it is an issue we've always faced. It's not your typical teenage saga where girl meets the boy and gets the happy ending. Instead, you have the class divide between the mighty rich and the powerless poor. Uprisings and state controls, fighting for your life, survival. Is violence the answer? There is no categorical easy answer. And you have a strong heroine (yes, female and strong!). It's fiction, yes. But it leaves you pondering past the final credit roll.

Since 2012, the three movies so far have grossed over $2 billion and gained loyal fans in every generation. The story and social commentary are compelling, but they are also accompanied by great acting - and casting - and bringing the world of Panem to life on a massive scale. Special effects (the scary monster things from the first film are back), costumes, action scenes...the works. It's the last instalment and they will go all out. I, for one, wasn't keen on Mockingjay - Part 1 but then again, Part 1 of 2's are never good for anything besides setting the scene for the conclusion. I will be in the cinema, feeling slightly nostalgic and excited at the same time whilst armed with a full pack of tissues. I will then convince myself that I'm ready to bid goodbye to The Hunger Games and the end of this era.

I'm usually a big fan of colour, which is exactly why I went for understated monochrome to make this week truly different. (As you can see, I caved on the last day.) I didn't want to overdo it, and ended up loving the black-and-white midi skirt + black top combo...very Milano! I'm not on a jetsetting fashionista budget either, so High Street stores made my Fashion Week affordable :) and I'm not sorry! My trusty black clutch (a TARDIS as it can carry everything) and black wedges follow me everywhere.

If there's one thing I've learnt from style stalking, it's that everybody loves an occasion to dress up! This is one of the reasons why I love red carpet style so much, but it was also very refreshing to see the coolest outfits on the pavements and not just the catwalks or red carpets.  I had such a good time putting my best foot forward this season; I can't wait to do it all over again next season in London.

It's more than official: our favourite diary-writing Bridget Jones is back for a third instalment. Production has started, and Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth will be joined by McDreamy Patrick Dempsey, and a baby, apparently. (For audiences of Helen Fielding's original books, fear not: this will not be an adaptation of the ridiculous Mad About the Boy.)

Bridget was one of the most refreshingly normal characters to grace the silver screen, and in a new promotional photo released by Universal Pictures, Bridget is back! And, she's traded the diary for an iPad - say whaaaat?


The film will be hitting screens in September 2016! Can't wait to see how this unravels.

James Bond is ready. Are you?

In the final trailer before Spectre is released later this month, there's a lot of fighting and punching.  And Daniel Craig looking effortlessly suave as Bond, obviously. Can't wait for this film to be released!

Handmade artisan detail was shown in the best way; Bally brought in several of their leather experts to work on some projects right in front of our very eyes. Impressed was an understatement.



There was a very minimalistic colour scheme that worked perfectly. I'd call it a 'grown-up pastel' colour scheme.

I went to Milan Fashion Week! I received a very shiny invitation with my name and 'beview.co.uk' written on it and got very excited indeed. It's been a few years since I went to my first catwalk in London, and last week I achieved a dream of witnessing the Italian runway.

German label AIGNER brought the 'under the sea' vibes to Milan with some gorgeous light fabrics, and a delicate coral-turquoise-nude palette. Spring/Summer 2016 will be all about bringing the underwater gems back to the surface.


Paired with some stand-out accessories, there were some very lovely glittering and reflective fabrics. Also, each bag's clean designs are even embroidered and decorated with moonstone. There's so much attention to detail it's impossible to ignore. Transparency played a key role in the fabrics and dresses, with clear panels channelling the iridescence of sea pearls. The standout detail for me was probably the shell-based embroidered skirts.


All in all, AIGNER presented a very fresh and feminine collection. I had quite the urge to go home and watch The Little Mermaid after the show!
